Repairing a Copper Wire Pinhole by Cutting
If your copper pipe has a tiny hole, you can fix it by cutting off 1/2 inch of the pipe and then putting on an ordinary pipe coupling. This fast solution will work for copper wires with tiny holes. You should note that although soldering may seem easy, you need to do it correctly, so there are no leaks. If the problem isn't too bad, you may attempt to repair it yourself. But you may need to call a professional if it is more serious.
Repairing a Copper Wire Pinhole with a Pencil
A tiny pinhole appears in the copper pipes from time to time. However, if this little flaw is not repaired promptly, it can cause significant damage. The hole might allow water to seep into other locations, causing mold and rot. So, what are your options if a leaking copper pipe creates a pinhole? If the leak does not require expert pipe burst repair assistance, you may try patching the hole with a pencil.
To begin, shut off the water supply, so it does not flow through the pipe while you work. Locate the pinhole once you've gone over the whole pipe. Then, using a pencil, carefully sharpen it. If necessary, break off the end of the pencil and keep it in place by pushing it into the hole.

Using a pipe cutter, cut out a patch from the sweat coupling at least 1 inch longer than the leaking section. Firmly grip the pipe in the jaws of the blade and tighten it. Remove a fixed piece from the sweat coupling; this should be at least 1 inch longer than what you just took away.
Tip:
- Ensure all internal pipes are completely dry before soldering for the best results.
- Stuff a cotton cloth into each line to catch water droplets that may have remained in the tube just before soldering.
- Make sure a faucet is open above that level to prevent pressure from building up and dripping more water into your repair.
- After the task is finished, turn on the water supply and verify for leaks.
